The difference between animals and humans is the difference between etiquette. Etiquette is the appropriate behavior for a specific time, place and environment. Just like you expect others to stop at a red light, or use their turn signals when changing lanes – the same type of etiquette should be expected of others when they use the internet. The etiquette that pertains to using internet is appropriately named netiquette. Sadly, not many users are aware of what netiquette is all about, or perhaps disregard the importance of it. Nonetheless, this article is all about netiquette and how to practice it. Accordingly, the following sets of factors are an integral part of this good practice, and should be practiced religiously.
  1. When posting on blogs, forums or even writing email, avoid using all caps. The reader may feel that you are experiencing an emotional outburst and may not take your message seriously or interpret it in the wrong context.
  2. When we speak to someone, people can pick-up on our emotions and can generally interpret how we are feeling. However, writing and expressing emotions at the same time takes some skill. One way to make sure that your reader knows how you feel is to use emotions such as smiley, frowns etc.
  3. When writing a message, keep it focused and to the point. Don’t deviate from your main point and pay attention to its length. Make sure it’s not too long or too short, just enough to keep your reader interested and focused on your point of view.
  4. Think about what your write on forums, news website or social media websites. Your message could potentially land you into hot water. In fact, there have been several reported cases of people getting in trouble due to their twitter or facebook status message.
  5. When sending emails, make sure define the subject line. Be as clear as you can about your topic. If your topic is misleading or uninteresting, your intended audience may delete it immediately.
  6. Think of your email as a public message instead of a private one. In addition, always proof-read your email before sending it. Small typographical mistakes can mislead others into thinking your lack competence.
Other precautions to take:
Don’t share personal information about yourself or others on the internet. Personal Information such as addresses, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers and the like can lead to incidents of identity theft. Other than that, sensitive information stored on computers is also susceptible, as hackers can wirelessly intercept data on personal computers and devices using sophisticated hacking software. As a precaution, users should encrypt all personal information using dedicated encryption software, and secure all data on portable devices such as Secure USB, that is developed for the purpose of securing data on portable devices.

The incident of data theft by Edward Snowden is bothering National Security Agency and making them restless. The young man stolen unknown extremely secret documents from the database of NSA and all he was equipped with just a small USB flash drive. This is how useful and lethal that small data storing device is. The National Security Agency has some rules and policies regarding the use jump drives, but, still it got hit by a data theft incident. There are a huge number of businesses that have no policies with respect to using USB drives and data management. You can imagine how vulnerable their data security will be. There are individuals that completely neglect the threat of data breach and take no security measures whatsoever. Well, be smart and use some easy guidelines that can help keep your information secure.

Keep Your Information Protected from the Insider Threat
The employees of a company play a vital role in data breach incidents. The insider threat is one of the biggest threats imposed to your data’s security. If you are still wondering that how can the insider threat can be so huge, so just recall the incident of Edward Snowden and you will get your answer. He was also an employee there and he easily walked away with the secret information. Similarly, employees of other businesses steal data and many of the occasions the employer remains unaware of the fact. Principles like BYOD are making the insider threat even more lethal.
Just have a data management plan and make of policy of allowing only the authorized portable drives to be plugged-in in the business’ computers. Keep a keen eye on the flow of data; it can definitely ease the risk of insider theft.
Beware of the Threat of Virus
For the past many years and still, online criminals used to send emails that had infectious links or files attached to it. The emails were made attractive enough that people are tempted to the click the link or open the attachments. Hackers still practice this tactic, but, many people are aware of it and they avoid clicking or opening such alien files. But, now, the e-crooks have found another of bullying people. They drop pen drives intentionally at public places like restaurants, bus stands, or parking lots. Those USB drives are stuffed with a malicious program that will attack your computer and will give those hackers a safe passage to your database. The majority of the people plug in those unknown flash drives.
The remedy is simple, never plug in any unauthorized USB drive in your computer as it is extremely risky.
Protect Your Flash Drive Physically as well as Digitally
As USB flash drives are prone to getting lost and stolen due to its extremely small size. You need to be very careful while handling the small drives, there is a high percentage of people that leave their portable drives in public places by mistake and suffer heavily.
You need to be careful whenever you carry your flash drive with you. Other than that, make sure that you use software that can Password Protect USB drive, so that, even if you lose portable drive, your data security will not be compromised.

The security of your records is your hand, it depends on you, whether you chose to secure it or you leave it on the courtesy of data thieves.

Secure USB
Secure USB
The best way to make your data portable is by using secure USB drive. That is why it has been most used portable data storing device all over the globe by a big margin.  However, carrying your information in a flash drive that has no security measures can impose huge risks on it. Billions of USB drives must have been sold last year, but, how many of them had built in the security barriers. I wonder how low would be their percentage. USB pen drives are injurious to your data’s security in a number of ways, some of them are known and some of them are unknown. Here are some of the biggest risks that are imposed by flash drives on your records.
Improper Deletion
When it comes to the deletion files in USB flash drive, it is not deletion actually. It can be explained as, instead of removing the files, they are hidden by a thin sheet of paper that can be easily taken off to access those deleted files. In the name of deleting files, all it does is to hide the path that leads towards that deleted data. The removed files and folders are still available at the same location and they can easily be accessed by losing recovery or repairing tools.
Leaving Behind the Flash Drive Puts Your Data in Danger
Data can be tempered or extracted out of an unsecured USB jump drive within seconds. Once your records have been tempered or stolen, you will not be sure whether your information was accessed by someone or not. That is why, you need to keep in mind that you keep your flash drive secured and always with you. If your jump drive gets misplaced for a small period, you need to get worried for the security of your information. The threat of losing your USB drive or getting it lost is always a danger that you need to be aware of.
The USB Security
The biggest problem with the computer users is that they do not pay the required attention towards the security of your data. As the small data storing devices have an amazing capability of storing information and is very much prone to getting lost or stolen due to its small size, you need to make sure that you operate a Secure USB drive. Otherwise, all your confidential information will be leaked and you have to face some serious consequences.
Tool to Spread Malware
It has been found out that more than 50 percent of the people plug in unknown USB flash drives that they found dropped somewhere. Knowing the fact, the cyber criminals have started to exploit this weakness. Hackers stuff the jump drives and drop them deliberately at places like car parking, restaurants, bus stands or similar public venues. Once the portable drive is plugged into a computer, it gives a safe passage to the hackers because of the fed malware in the device.

These are some of the potential risks that are imposed to your portable data storing devices. You need to make sure that all the USB drives you use are properly secured. The flash drives are literally a blessing; however, it can turn into a curse if not handled properly. Keep your data security intact and stay safe.

The perception that only large scale firms can be a victim of a data breach incident is changing with time. Now, small businesses are also aware of the importance of data they have and they want to make sure that their data remain secure. But, the most sophisticated of the data security tools are usually quite expansive that is unaffordable by the small firms. However, small businesses and individuals can also secure their data as there are some simple and cheap measures of securing data.
Carefully Manage Passwords
Password is probably the most underrated tool of securing data. Computer users tend to set simple passwords as they do not give any sort of importance to passwords. The proof of such non-serious attitude towards setting a password is that the most common password that users use for social media websites such as Facebook is “123456”. It’s a fact that people have to manage a number of passwords for different accounts, but, it does not mean that they set up such easy passwords. Passwords should be easy to remember, but, hard to guess. You cannot write your passwords somewhere, you have to memorize it, if you are an employer, you should manage your employee’s passwords.
Keep Portable Data Storing Devices Safe
The use of portable data storing devices facilitates computer users all around the globe, but, at the same time, these drives impose huge risks of data breach on your information. As portable drives such as USB flash drives have immense capability of storing data, but, their small size makes them prone to getting lost or stolen. An unsecured USB flash drive can make you suffer heavy loss as the majority of pen drives do not have any sort of built in security. To serve the purpose of protecting portable drives, you can use software that can Secure USB.
In the modern era of technology, no matter you are owner of a small business or an individual, you ought to make your data safe as the criminals these days are extremely good at exploiting every sort of information. It is better to take precaution than to cry over spilt milk.

USB flash drives are also known as thumb drive due to its small size. A USB flash drive can have a capacity up to a terabyte. A USB flash drive that has a storage capacity of 1GB can save data more than Six Hundred floppies. The price of a USB thumb drive is reasonably low. A USB has a storage capacity up to 16GB costs only $15 to $17. Due to its portability and affordability, it is extremely feasible to carry the data. Where its small size is advantageous to carry data, there is also a disadvantage of such tiny size that USB drive requires extraordinary care. Data acts as genetic material for a company. A delicate piece of information can reveal past organization planning as well as the upcoming steps of the organization.
USB flash drive can easily be lost or stolen. A USB can save a huge amount of data, if the USB is lost, it can be used as a weapon against the company. The rival companies can plan their steps accordingly and can use their client’s data for their own good. A company should focus on the security of their data. According to a research, data breach through USB drives are not a result of carelessness, but, due to the lack of security measures by the company. The company needs to track all the records of the USBs used by the company and the USBs plugged into the organization’s computers. The data breaches are not always a result of lost or stolen USB. Sometimes ex- employees steal data and present to their new employers. New employers can reward those employees who steal the competitor data. Even the employees of the company who are not at a respectable post in an organization can be bribed to breach data. Organizations need to restrict the irrelevant employees from accessing the confidential information about the business. To Protect USB drives, organization may opt for the password protection. As a USB drive as a whole cannot be password protected–many of the important files are usually in MS Office format. MS Office applications offer a built-in password protection facility. It is necessary to use complex and uncommon passwords that cannot be guessed easily. Try to create password from the letters that are not closely located on the keyboard. Use uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols for the password. The important and the less important documents should be stored separately.
Using encrypted software can provide a backup of the data. But encrypting data is not the perfect solution, because the data needs to be accessed from anywhere. Internet access is necessary to access encrypted data. There can be some situation where one cannot access internet. The traditional techniques to secure data do not offer cent percent security for the data. If a company gets willing to spend a small of money for the security of their data in portable storing drives, there is some reliable software in the market such as; USB Secure. USB secure offers foolproof security.

Where everything is turning mobile, the need of mobility of data is also getting stronger day by day. Many devices are serving the purpose of making data portable, but, there is no comparison to the service of USB flash drive in making data mobile. Only in last year, more than 20,000,000 USB drives were sold; the number speaks about its popularity and efficiency. However, these jump drives come with a number of built in data security threats.

Deletion of Files does not Really Remove the File
You can store an immense amount of data in a small USB flash drive; however, you cannot delete that data so easily. When you want to remove files from the drive with the orthodox method, it actually does not remove files, but, put a thin sheet over your records. Data deleted from the pen drive can easily be extracted out using recovery tools.
Threat of Getting Misplaced
The biggest strength of USB flash drive is also the its biggest weakness that is its small size. USB pen drives are so small that they can be easily carried anywhere in your pocket, wallet or anywhere. But, this small size also imposes a huge threat of leaking data as these tiny drives are very much prone to getting lost or stolen. Keeping your USB drive with software that cans Secure USB is a wise idea.
Threat of Spreading Malware
USB flash drives have the built in capability of spreading malware. Crooks just need to equip the USB pen drive with the infectious program and somehow give the jump drive to the intended person. As per the statistics suggest, more than 50 percent of the people that find an alien pen drive plug in the drive without having a single thought about the threat of malware.
These are the curses that are associated with the small data storing devices along with millions of blessings.

The computer users all around the world look towards the IT experts in all sorts of guidance regarding the computer technology. The IT professionals seem to know almost everything that is happening in the field of computer, the Dos and Don’ts of this field. But, the truth is quite different from the perception that you people have. The IT professionals seem to put forward their ideas, lecture computer users, guide them regarding the computer technology, but, they really do not act as they preach to others. The truth was revealed by a study that was conducted sometime back in the current year.
The study was based on the sample size of Three Hundred Information Technology experts. As the majority of IT professionals discourage the use of USB flash drive and rate these small data storing device as one of the top threats to data. They have put forward hundreds of guidelines and warnings regarding the use of USB flash drives. These guidelines are about how to make USB flash drive secure or how to Protect USB. They also have spoken much about the threats that the alien USB flash drives impose to your data.
The IT experts that were the part of that study, more than 230 of them admitted that they have plugged a strange USB flash drive that they found somewhere lying. IT experts who forbid the computer users all around the world to plug in any unfamiliar portable data storing device into the computer do plug in their own computers without a single thought regarding data security. Moreover, after plugging in, they found out that the USB flash drives that they plugged in had some malicious program that infected their computer.

Knowing the fact, hackers spread such USB flash drives with infectious programs in order get the access to the database of the computer users. The old technique used by the hackers was to spread malware through emails. The emails that they used to send to hundreds of users were supposed to be equipped with a link which was asked to be clicked. On clicking such link, the hackers used to get a safe passage into the database. But, as the computer users got aware of this technique, they avoided clicking any such link. Than hackers amended their strategy and opt for the USB flash drives which intentionally drop at different public places.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security carried out a test to check how hard it is to access the database through USB flash drive. The department intentionally dropped a number of USB flash drives, half portable drives had a logo on them and the rest were without logo. The USB sticks were dropped in the parking lot of the company. Around 60 percent of the USB flash drives were picked up and plugged into the computer. The Even more horrifying situation was that almost 90 percent of the USB drives that had a logo on them were plugged in. The people who give lectures to the computer users round the globe are nor careful regarding data security themselves.

Simple-Ways-to-Boost-Website-Security-600x450
The internet technology has brought a revolution in the field of technology. Now information can reach millions of users with no barriers who are sitting in different parts of the world. Today, the internet is the most advanced technology and millions of people are being benefited from it. However, the misuse of this technology can be disastrous and create serious problems for individuals and organizations. Frequent hacking of internet accounts has been seen many times which bring losses to companies. The chief reason for this is uncontrolled and unchecked internet privacy which users don’t usually pay attention to. The disadvantage of unchecked internet privacy is that anybody can have access to the information and can be misused. The internet privacy system, which is installed on many network applications, allows you to manage the security of your information so that it could not fall into the wrong hands. Internet privacy consists of many security features which can help share our information only with those whom we are familiar with. Information on the internet is confidential and it should not be shared with anybody. Sometimes people share their bank account details to shop online and make payments without taking any measure and eventually they are deprived of their accounts. Financial companies who offer services of online payment and buying/selling of products use https servers and 1024 bit key so that nobody could hack the sites and know about the financial transactions which are being done on their websites.
Breach of internet privacy and protected websites is a punishable offense and is strongly dealt by the cyber crime wing of any country. The cyber crime wing does surveillance of internet traffic and points out any breach of privacy by unauthorized users. Furthermore, several users often transport sensitive data onto portable drives – increasing the possibility of data theft – given the chance your flash drive is found by a criminal. Therefore, it’s imperative that users Secure USB drives with data security software engineered to safeguard data on external drives. To manage the flow of information on internet and non-sharing of private information with unauthorized users' internet privacy is essential to reduce the threats of internet security. Every individual has right to secure private information from being misused by internet hackers and unauthorized personnel. Therefore, people should watch out that their internet privacy mode is on before sharing their personal information on different websites. The details of bank accounts and credit cards are highly confidential and private data which can be misused by anybody.
Thus, every effort should be made to maintain the security and privacy of confidential data from being it’s misused. Sharing of pictures and videos mostly on social networking websites has also proven very dangerous sometimes. With internet privacy it can be accessed by other users of that network who can pass it to others and misuse it. With internet privacy option the pictures and videos of users can only be restricted to a limited number of people who users have allowed the system to share their personal information. Hence, by using the internet privacy option wisely, we can save our personal information, bank account details and other private data from being misused by unauthorized personnel.

Super-Talent-Luxio-16GB-Silver-Color-USB-Flash-Drive-ZW-055-The thumb sized portable data storing device has become a fashionable accessory that is available in the market in different colors, shapes and designs. It is as small as a human thumb and it has the capability of storing data in gigabytes. Having these characteristics, still, the small portable data storing device are extremely affordable that it is quite often distributed at conventions conferences and other such festivals. The popularity of USB flash drives is based on the three qualities i.e. portability, affordability and capability to store huge amount of data. But, the IT security experts see this trend of increase in the usage of the USB memory stick as a beginning of a disaster.
Due to the small size of a couple inches, this portable drive has a few names such as thumb drive, jump drive, pen drive or flash drive. Being so small, it has the capability of storing data up to 64GB and even more. These USB flash drives have become so common that it is making IT security experts uncomfortable. The experts give their view as the more common this drive will get, the more it will be lost or stolen and will infect more computers. The small portable drives have become so popular that cyber criminals are using them as a medium to spread malicious programs so that they can achieve their target easily.
The USB flash drives do not only impose a threat to data in the shape of a medium of spreading malware, the bigger issue with these memory sticks is that these are very much prone to getting lost or stolen. Every thousand of such USB flash drives are lost, and the majority of them do not have much security measures. If the USB drive is equipped with software that cans Password Protect USB can helpful in making data secure. Data is a precious asset; it requires a proper security plan and policies, if the information gets leaked, it can make you suffer a heavy loss.

As the technology progresses, everything is becoming more and more portable, and more mobile. Almost every gadget or machine is getting smaller lighter and smarter as the days are passing. Let's start with the invention of the computer, when the first proper computer was invented, it was almost of the size of a room. But, afterwards, the technology regarding the computer started getting more and more advance and huge changes were made in the design structure and functions. The computer which we see today is completely transformed; it is equipped with all the necessary tools that are required to perform numerous operations.  Similar case is with the mobile phone. When Motorola first introduced the cell phone, it was too big to keep it in the pocket and was quite heavy. There were no functions in that cell phone except calling and answering the call. All in all it was just a portable landline phone that even had a battery backup of only half an hour. But, researchers kept on working, they tried new ideas and they got successful at every new stage of revolution of the cell phone. Then, the mobile phone was given the features of SMS (Short Messaging Service) that made the communication even easier. The developers add to the facility to play games on cell phones that are proven to be a good time pass.
After these inclusions, a journey of revolution of mobile phone started that made these cellular phones radios, camera, camcorder and many other gadgets. Steve Jobs gave these cell phones a totally new look by introducing a touch screen feature in the mobile phones. After that invention, companies started competing in a race of launching the best Smartphone and this race is still in progress. However, the major competitor of this race is just two i.e. Apple and Samsung. There is no doubt that the technology of cellular phones will continue to be advanced and will become better day by day. From the day computer has invented and being used to perform tasks, there is a rapid progress in the technology of storing data. A number of devices invented to store data digitally, many of them got successful and many of them lost somewhere due to the incapability. The scientist had a clear view that at some point in the future, the computer users would like to carry their data with them. That is why, along with the regular data storing devices, scientists invented devices like Floppy Disk and CD to make the data mobile. Making data portable given a great facility to the users, but it imposed a big threat to data security.technology-overload2
Portable data storing devices such as CDs, DVDs, memory cards and the more popular USB flash drives. As these portable drives are small and light which make them mobile and make them handy, these qualities are also the biggest drawback of these drives. The portable drives are prone to getting lost or stolen, using a software that can Secure USB and other portable drives would be a good idea to make your data secure. Where technology advancement brings a number of facilities, the same advancements always have some big drawbacks.

Almost 19 years back from today, Toshiba invented the memory. The name ‘flash’ was derived from the way by which memory was erased redolent of the camera i.e. “Flash”. It was just the flash memory that was invented by Toshiba; the first USB drive was introduced by Intel in1988. When these two drives (Flash drive and USB drives) were merged to form a device, USB flash drive was invented. In early 2000, Trek Corporation was the first one to launch a proper USB flash drive in the market. The first USB flash drive that was available in the market had the capacity to store only 8MB of data. Latter, IBM captured the North American market introducing this amazing drive there. The USB flash drive has become much more capable and powerful since its evolution. Like every invention, it takes ages to make it perfect, similarly, USB jump drives have passed through several stages, and the drive we use today are almost 3000 times more competent than the first USB flash drive. USB flash drive had the capability to store much more than a standard CD (Compact Disk), it was easy to carry. The USB flash drives were and are as small as the size of human thumb. That is why, this amazing portable data storing device has several names such as; thumb drive, flash drive, jump drive and some others.
USB flash drive has easily become the ruler of the market of the portable data storing devices, but, still, these drives are the perfect ones. If you study the result of the surveys conducted to know the trends of data breach, you would probably found that this small data storing device is on the top of the list that leaks data. Other than that, these USB memory sticks are the ones that are to be blamed for spreading viruses. Studies have suggested that more than quarter of the malware is being spread through these portable data storing devices. USB flash drive has also given employees, and other workers to steal data easier than ever before. The employees are allowed to bring their devices to work according to the new principle BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), this principle is adopted by the companies to increase the output of the employees. Other than that, employees want to take their data home so that they can complete their task at home. This can boost their performance and can bring bigger opportunities for them ahead. Among these kind of employees, there are also some workers who do not have the same intentions and they take data to sell it to some other competitor or organization.
The biggest threat is imposed to the data by USB flash drive is due to its small size. These drives are tough to take care of and are very much prone to getting lost or stolen. The majority of the user of these drives does not pay serious attention towards its security and keep the thumb drive unsecure. The users can make their data that is saved in the USB flash drive secure by using security software that cans Secure USB. Even if you misplace or lose your portable drive, your data will remain inaccessible for any crook.

In the recent years, the data loss cases have been increasing at an alarming rate and the increasing rate of kind of cases is also a point of worry. This problem has victimized every kind of organizations regardless of the size of the organization. Many of the information are leaked due the fierce attacks of hackers on the database of the company. However, a huge amount of data is lost in result of the lost or misplaced portable data storing devices, laptops or emails to the wrong users. The worst part is that, in the majority of the cases, the users who lost the sensitive records of the company remained unaware of the fact of losing data.
The data loss affects the business activities of the company, it harms the goodwill of the organization in the society or it loses the confidence of the client. The biggest threat to the business is from losing the business secrets to the rival companies. Data loss may hand over all the business plans, marketing strategies, financial records and other such kind of extremely confidential information. If the competitor gets success in achieving the desired data, it may hit some big blows to the business of the company. Data that is not much important to you may be precious and priceless for your computer, that is why, all the saved in the database needs proper security measures.
Lost-USB-So-Data-Lost-And-Hacked
Email is one of the core sources from where confidential data is exposed. About 34 percent of the companies reported that their data is exposed due to the lack of following of email security protocols. Nearly 32 percent of the organizations investigated that employees leaked data due to the violation of security protocols established by the company. Twenty percent of the companies fired at least one employee who stands guilty for exposing data via emails.
The thing that bothers the IT professional the most these days is the loss of data through portable data storing devices, laptops or Smartphone’s. The studies suggest that more than 60 percent of the decision-makers are extremely worried about this kind of data breach. The survey further revealed that out of this 64 percent executives, nearly 60 percent of them are concerned about the loss due to the theft or misplaced portable data storing devices. Moreover, more than 20 percent of the organizations have compromised their information in the last 12 months because of the loss portable data storing device such as USB flash drive.
USB flash drives are without any doubt the most vastly used portable data storing device. Due to its small size it is called thumb drive, pen drive or jump drive. Still, USB flash drives are capable of storing data in gigabytes. Its small size makes its security difficult; these drives are prone to getting lost or stolen. As it can carry a huge amount of data, losing a USB drive can be very threatening. That is why it is important to Secure USB. USB drives have become a necessity for computer users as it is extremely portable also quite affordable.

The problem regarding the data security is not hidden from anyone. There is not a single moment when the companies are worried about the threat of data leakage. To avoid such information breaches, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program needs to be established and implement. However, many companies prepare the plan to tackle this data leakage problem, but, few of them are unable to implement the plan, and others are simply not bothered to implement it. A common mistake that the majority of the companies commit is that they keep a check on incoming traffic. The data of a company are at risk from the malicious attacks of the cyber criminals and as well as by the internal employees of the company. The organizations do not pay the required attention on the activities of their employees who steal data and sell them further to some rival. It has proven from many surveys that the internal employees of the company are one of the biggest threats to the companies’ data.
Usually, the first step towards making the data secure is to educate the employees and aware of the perils their data are facing. Many organizations conduct training programs for the employees’ training regarding data security. But, once the employees finish their training, they forget what they were taught regarding data security. Some other employees find these security policies a barrier in their style of working.
Other than the technical aspects of data security, the companies should create awareness in the employees for using security software. USB flash drives are vastly used for storing data, and due to their small size, they are prone to getting lost and misplaced. Experts rate USB flash as drive a major source of data loss. But, using software that cans Secure USB may help the cause of the employees of protecting confidential data.

USB (Universal Service Bus) flash drive is a small portable data storage device, it can be as small as one inch to four inches. Due to its small size, it is known as thumb drive, pen drive or jump drive. The storage capacity of a USB flash drive can be amazing from 64MB to 64GB. The large capacity of storage enables you to save any kind of data, whether; it is your pictures, videos, other media files, college and school assignment or important projects of your professional life. The portable data storing device is extremely easy to use. It does not require any installation or complex procedure, just the USB flash drive in the USB port in the computer and you can save your data in the thumb drive. It does not need any external power supply to perform its operation which also a feasibility. USB jump drive is currently the ruler of the world of portable data storing devices; it has completely substituted the use of Floppy disk and captured a huge space of CDs (Compact Disk). USB flash drive is such a convenience to carry your data with you, but, it is not the perfect data carrier. Sometimes, the file saved on the USB flash drive gets corrupted, this gets really frustrating. Especially, I the file that is corrupted is something important, it will make you cry out loudly. Usually, the files get corrupted due to the attack of some unseen virus on the portable device or on the system you are using. If you use public computers of café, schools, library, college or somewhere else, you are likely to be hit with a virus. These corrupt files are not easy to recover and it might delete your document completely at some occasions.
Other than this problem of files getting corrupt due to the virus attacks on the drive and computer,  these portable data storing device is very prone to lost and theft. Due to its tiny volume, it easily gets lost or theft, the bulk of data that is user store in the device, it gets pretty tempting for the thieves who are in search of precious data to steal it. USB flash drives are one of the basic sources of data breach, researches have shown that a large majority of data is leaked through USB flash jump drive. These stolen drives are used to extract confidential data out of these drives and use it against the user of such portable drives. The majority of the lost or stolen drives do not have much of a security, which makes the life of thieves and crooks easier. However, if you use software that can Secure USB, will be beneficial for you and will protect your information from getting breached. These portable data storing devices are amazing; the big flaw that everyone sees in this device is the never ending threat of losing the thumb drive due to theft or lost. But, taking some precautions and using some security measures, you can give your data and drive a reliable security.

USB flash drives have brought revolution in the world portable storage drives. USB flash drives are also known as thumb drive, pen drive, key drive or jump drive. All these names are given to his device due to its small size and portability. USB thumb drive is an excellent source of transferring and carrying data from one place to another. Whether you have to transfer important documents or any fun media files, it is the best source to do the task. Having such a mini size, still these USB drives have an amazing capacity of storage. A USB pen drive can be from some MBs to 32 GBs, having a normal USB drive of 1GB can save more data than a Compact Disk (CD).
One of the better things about USB flash drives is that it is extremely affordable. USB drives are reusable as many times as you want, not like other portable drives like CDs or DVDs which can be written for a specific number of times. The pen drives are completely compatible to work on a PC as well as the MAC. They are easy to use, no complexities in saving data on USB drives, just drag and drop feature will do the trick. On the other hand saving data on CDs or floppy drives was quite complicated. No special ports, software or any other kind of installation is required to transfer data in the thumb drive. The USB drive is not prone to be easily damaged as CDs and DVDs. USB flash drives are far more energy efficient as compared to the traditional hard drives. They have no parts in motion while they are working and light and small parts also help their convenience.
USB drives are extremely feasible for carrying data. It has enabled the user to access its data from anywhere in the globe by just plugging in the USB flash drives. USB drives were not useful in the first two years after its introduction to the world. The portable drive got a boost when Microsoft introduced the Windows operating System. The introduction of Windows proven a turning point for USB thumb drives; it gave the storage device a new life. Ever since, USB pen drive has ruled the world of portable devices very easily. It has destroyed the existence of floppy disks that could save hardly any piece information and was extremely sensitive.
There is no difference of opinion regarding that USB flash drive is the champion of the portable storage devices. But, where USB drives are facilitating their user big time, they are the devices that are prone to data breach the most. Every year thousands of employees lost or get their USB flash drives stolen that contained some personal or important records. The biggest reason of losing USB drives in such a big number is due to its amazingly small volume. These losses and thefts of the portable drives many times result in data leakage. Using security software that cans Secure USB, it can be a remedy to avoid such data breaches. People cannot quit using this wonderful storage drive, so, they must take some precautions to prevent themselves from any kind of loss.

The average cost per data leakage has been raised up to £2 from £1.04 within a year. The situation is alarming. Employees’ negligence is the biggest reason of losing data; companies should create awareness in employees regarding data security.

Description
According to the latest report of cost of data breach 2013 issued by Symantec and the Ponemon Institute, the average cost of a data breach has been risen up to £2. This cost has been raised from £1.04 to £2 in a short span of time of a year. As the report suggests, the majority of data breach incidents are the result of employee negligence. Employees lose their portable drives that contain delicate information related to the company they are working with. Another cause of data leakage is lack of security measures. The average cost of a data breach has risen in the consecutive sixth year; it is such an alarming fact.  Hackers are also a general cause of data breaches, and it can harm more than the data breach through human error. But, still negligence of employees is still a bigger cause of data leakage. Companies need to train their employees regarding data security; they need to establish policy to protect data from leakage. They need to make the employees understood their responsibility of taking care of confidential data of the company. According to a research, only 25 percent of the companies make policies to secure data and out of these 25 percent only about 13 percent of the companies implement them.
It is advisable to use security software that can Password Protect USB Drive; using security software reduces the probability of getting data leaked. The study conducted by Symantec and the Ponemon Institute also shows that customers do not lose faith on the company even after their personal data leakage. But, the fact is that no one likes his/her personal information to reach in the wrong hands and being exploited. There are cases being reported where companies have suffered losses that cost millions of Dollars, certainly not all companies can bare these losses. So it is better to take precaution than to cry over the spilt milk.

Data security is the process of securing your database from the unwanted access of unauthorized access. They are basically malware which affects the security of files. Trojan, Virus or Spyware are the different types of programs that can affect a catalog badly. These programs can steal, leak, alter and destroy confidential information and personal files and may cause a business to suffer from a huge loss of data. Therefore, businesses need to take anticipatory actions to prevent information loss.
There are different types of data protection technologies that give people the opportunity to secure their records. Following are some of those technologies:
1.       Data Encryption: It is an encryption technology that encrypts data on a hard drive. It is also known by the name of On-The-Fly Encryption and Transparent Encryption.

2.
Software Based Mechanism for Data Security: A software based solution that block access to files, folders, program or hard drive. It prevents statistics theft but can be corrupted with malware interference.

3.       Hardware Based Mechanism for Data Security: It blocks read and write access to information and provides a good solution against tampering.

4.       Backup Process: It secures records and gives users the opportunity to recover records.

5.       Data Masking: This is the process of obscuring sensitive information in a catalog table or cell to prevent its leakage.

6.       Data Erasure: Software based overwriting for destroying figures residing on a hard drive to prevent its leakage once the drive is used again.da
Nowadays, data defense has become a top priority for businesses who want to secure their confidential information. Records safety must be considered by software developers too at the time they develop their software applications. They must provide a facts security feature along with the application to deal with the security problems.
Confidentiality, availability and integrity of statistics are the factors that must be considered for data security; moreover, users should also Secure USB drives when transporting sensitive records. Confidential of information means that information should be available to specific individuals and not anyone else. Availability of data means that facts should be available to the target audience when it is required. Integrity of data means that files should be managed in a way that unauthorized access cannot alter it.
There are different methods that can be adopted for information protection. You can block access to your files and folders by protecting them through a password. You can encrypt your personal files to prevent unwanted access to data. You can save your confidential records in a USB or burn it on a CD/DVD Rom to ensure you have the back up for your records if it gets lost. Firewall and antivirus programs can also be used for data security.
In short, they are basically malware that affects the confidentiality, availability and integrity of facts and you can deal with it by either using a internet security products or securitysoftware. Different methods can be adopted to protect files from stealth, leakage, alteration and destruction. Therefore, you should have a proper data management system to deal with information security problems.

With the use of USB at mass level to store data, it is more important than ever before to establish strong policies to protect data. According to a research, companies do not focus much on the security of their USB drives. Businessmen are found to distribute data through USBs without the clearance by their IT department. Only a negligible numbers of business heads are known to keep the records of the number of USBs used in their business activities. Companies think that the real security threat to their data is from the hackers and other external powers. But, the biggest threat to their data is from their own employees. Workers transfer delicate data like financial information of the business, information about clients, marketing strategies or tender information at a large volume that can result in a data breach intentionally or unintentionally.
When companies establish a policy regarding data security, these policies should be communicated from the highest level of the hierarchy to the lowest level. Companies should make their employees understand the policies and emphasize to follow those guidelines. Employees ought to answer their superior in order of any policy violation. The company must Mandate a strict policy for employees, highlighting that no employees that no personal storage devices to be connected to the machines that are operational for business purposes. Personal data storing devices can infect the company’s computers or network systems. All the USB devices or other portable devices should be checked carefully by the IT department. Only those portable devices should be connected to the systems that have been authorized by the IT department. It will be helpful if these portable devices are scanned or a regular basis. IT department should track all the records of the USBs And make logs as to who is using what USB device.
All the data that is saved in USB should be encrypted using 256-bit-AES Standards. Encryption gives an extra layer of security to the data. Data can be encrypted to Hardware or software encryption. However, it is recommended to use hardware encryption as it is more reliable. Data encryption prevents data from being lost.
Every piece of information that you save in a USB should have a back up too. If the data gets damaged, it can be recovered from that back up. IT department should have the command to disable a USB drive remotely. If an ex-employee still has the possession of a USB that has been used for business purpose, he may breach data through it. IT department of a company should be able to change the password with full authority without confiscating the portable drives in their possession.
But, the basic policy that company can establish to instruct their employees to keep data security software for their USBs like USB Secure. USB secure Password Protects USB Drives; it also gives password protection to other portable data storing devices. This type of software can provide complete security to the company’s data without any complexity.
